Are your Macleans... - Giveaway

Hey, you know the Macleans jingle, right? Well I'm changing it. It will no longer be "Are your Macleans showing?" it will be known from this day forth as "Are your Macleans Glowing?". Sounds good, right? I'm be calling them today to let them know. I'm sure they'll be thrilled and offer me a bajillion dollars.

So, right, *ahem* on with the blog post:

I brush Tricky's teeth every day - have done since he got the first one and now he's got six. I'm slightly obsessed.

I'm obsessed because when I was two years old I had not one, but two tooth abscesses. They were caused by being given a bottle with (I think) a bit of cordial in it to go to sleep with and my teeth not being brushed properly. My parents were stressed out (having one of your daughters with a fatal heart condition can kinda do that) but I've got no doubt they did the best they could at the time.

What do they do to a two year old abscesses on her two front teeth? They yank 'em out. From age two until my adult teeth came through, it was gap central in my gob. And while it's not the best thing to happen, lemme just say, I rocked that look:

Naww, it's little Glow! You know you want to click to look closer!

So the moral of the story is: BRUSH YOUR KIDS' TEETH!

But what will you brush them with? Oh how 'bout all this Macleans stuff? Score!

The awesome people at Macleans, you know, the ones who brought the inspirational Kristin from Wanderlust all the way from Kansas to Sydney, are continuing on with their generosity and have given me a massive prize pack to give away to one lucky Where's My Glow? reader so that your teeth will Glow and you can sing my version of the jingle.

This massive prize pack contains:

  • 2 Macleans Iso-active toothpastes (I've been using this type, it's nice and minty!)
  • 2 Macleans Flex toothbrushes
  • 2 Macleans Junior Jaws toothpastes
  • 1 Junior Jaws toothbrush
  • 2 600ml Ribena Blackcurrant Syrup + Ribena recipe cards
  • 1 Pronamel Gentle Whitening toothpaste

To win all you have to do is be a follower of Where's My Glow? and leave a comment below telling me what makes you show your Glowing Macleans smile? (My answer would be: seeing how freakin' cute I was as a kid hehehe). You can also Tweet "My Macleans are Glowing thanks to @Glowless http://bit.ly/h7rY6K " for another entry, but make sure you come back here and leave a comment so I know you've done it!

Then head on over to the brand new Macleans Mums Facebook page and check it out for all the tips and tricks on keeping your Macleans Glowing and for your chance to win 1 of 8 iPads!

  2. Nawww, you kinda look like my mum when she was a little tacker lol.

Yes please I need toothpaste! And toothbrushes! I've been using a cheap pink one that neighbourhood house gave me for the last few months lol.

I have sensitive teeth, so anytooth paste that will dull that will make these Macleans Glow.
Sucks though, I never had sensitive teeth until I went in for a filling a couple years back and they done something ouchy and now I have sensitive teeth :$ - It's not as bad a as it was though.

Muffin has a little bit of decay in her front teeth where they kind of cross/touch - they are a tad crooky. We've tried having it sorted at the dentist but she was too scared. (and quite rightly - I'm still scared as fuck!)

  3. I had no front teeth until my adult teeth grew in, too. Mine was because, at about 1 and a half I was running and fell, hitting my top teeth on a stool causing them both to retract into my gum.
I show my Glowing Macleans smile when my children are at Day Care (this week, anyhow...)

  5. Lets not talk about the dentist. I need 7 fillings and a crown because I never went as a kid! Gah!

But to answer your question what makes me show my (not so) glowing smile... I'd have to say seeing my little boy's cute little grin first thing in the morning

  6. I've haven't even started brushing Georgie's teeth yet and she's 9 months! She only has 3 teeth though but one is a big one- so I better get onto that. And What makes me smile? My little girl is full of 'Mum-mum-mum-mum-mums' in these past couple of weeks and it's super cute! Hope I win- I love Ribena!

  7. Some brushing each day keeps the dentist away and man oh man i hate that fecking dentist and his credit card machine. I have donated far too many $ to the dentistry retirement funds so you need to give me the toothiepeg paste to reverse this dastardly issue. PS You were waaaaaaaay cute x

My McCleans came out yesterday when miss five told her father off for saying a 'square' word ..... which happened to be 'stupid' which is considered a swear word at our house. I love it when they make me laugh :O)

  12. I used to clean Seagull's teeth religiously by wiping them with a face washer, then I got him a toothbrush when he was just over a year old. By the time he got to about 18 months, it started to become a real nightmare to clean his teeth. These days, it is a two person job to clean his teeth - one person has to hold him down to physically restrain him and the other person (me) has to get in there to brush them. I can do it by myself sometimes if I straddle him and use my knees to pin his arms down so that he can't hit/scratch me. It annoys me, because as a formal dental assistant, I know that he needs to have his teeth brushed, but I'm really worried that I'm going to traumatise him by forcing the issue. Then again, needing fillings will probably traumatise him more.

Having snuggles with my cuddly Wombat and my squawky Seagull make my Macleans glow. I have also tweeted. :)

  27. You were so cute! Miss E has two new teeth so I am all for some free dental products!

In answer to your question, what makes me flash my MacLeans smile? Well I have a lot to be happy about, a beautiful family, my health & a car that runs well on occasion, but to be honest, the reason I flash my pearly whites is because I get a kick out of people commenting on how lovely my smile is. After being tormented in Primary School for having Bugs Bunny teeth, and then going through endless trips to the dental hospital, visits with my orthadontist, thousands of dollars and four years of wearing head gear similar to that of Shelly out of South Park, how can I not smile to know I came through it looking and feeling 100% better!? Heck, I can even close my mouth properly [which I wanted to do as a kid to hide them, but couldn't...] and which I rarely do because I have a LOT of shit to say! Mostly "thanks, I know I have a beautiful smile, I've bloody earned it!"

Teeth are very important to me, I was born with dodgy ones. For my 30th birthday I gifted myself with four veneers so I could actually smile without hiding my mouth.
Now I am obsessed with flossing and brushing and thankfully so are my little people!!

  61. My beautiful babies make me show my Mcleans glowing smile all day everyday, except the part of the day when my 11month old son pulls everything out of the bathroom cupboards and paints the floor tiles with the toothpaste. My 2 year old daughter loves brushing her teeth so much she does it all the time around the house, so when it comes to brushing her teeth for bed its a nightmare trying to find where she has but her toothbrush. Like most mums its easy to get tierd at night and rush the kids off to bed, to win a Mcleans pack would keep me on track to make sure I continue to commit to keeping my daughters teeth beautiful and clean and my sons 4 teeth lovely and clean and sharp so when Breastfeeding him I can continue to be on gaurd.

  67. I actually paid $5,000 for braces out of my own money back in 1999 as a struggling Uni student. To tell you the truth, I never ever needed braces on my teeth. It was a vanity thing. I went around to lots of dentists in Sydney to find a dodgy one who would write me a referral to an orthodontist so I could get them fitted. I smile all the time.

I can't help smiling. My teeth are so important to me. Obsessively important. I brush wash and floss 3 times a day, and my colleages think I'm really strange sporting a toothbrush, bottle of mouthwash and floss pack in my pigeon hole in case I need an impromptu top up! My hubby is proud that I set a shining example for our children. My dentist and myself are on a first name basis and we see each other every six months for our date- um I mean appointment.

So please support an addict. They say that after one cigarette, smokers are hooked for life. I can understand that cause after my first brush, I too was hooked for life.
