I've been looking through stacks of albums and piles upon piles of shoeboxes at my parents' house recently for my own baby photos to attach to the bio I can't write for the project I can't tell you about (are you keeping up? No? Me neither). If you wanna help me pick, the top six are here to be voted on.
Anyway, tucked inside the album was one A5 page of milestone notes (third child, the novelty of note taking had worn off) and I had a good read and here are the best bits about the perfectly average little ol' me:
___ . . . ___ . . . ___
17.12.81 - Born at 2:11pm, weight 4.35 kg (9.6lb), length 53cm (BOOMBAH BABY!)
3 days old - Fully bottle fed (And I turned out fine. No really, I mean it. Stop laughing.)
Six months - Can sit by herself for about a minute
Seven months - Crawls in a fashion elbows first then moves along (Commando baby)
Nine months - Took her out of the walkers as she fell face first on to the floor. Cracked her lip. Crawls properly. Can say "Dad Dad" and wave bye bye. Has four teeth.
Ten months - Glowless now pulls herself up on all the furniture, has five teeth, can say "Mum Mum" and "Hello" but it's more just a singing sound.
Twelve months - Glowless now walks fully by herself
Fourteen months - Can say "Nanna" "Bye bye" "chasey". Climbs on everything. Gets up to mischief. Brat. (What a loving mother)
Eighteen months - First trip to the dentist - broken teeth. Very good at going to bed at night, wakes up once or twice
Twenty months - First sleep in her new bed - hates it. Takes Jimbalyn (my doll) with her. Hassles.
Two years - Had two year old test - is advanced in talking - mother's side - clever (and I haven't shut up ever since!)
Two years - Have had second opinion on Glowless' teeth. Two front teeth must come out because she has abscesses.
Nawww I was cute! |
___ . . . ___ . . . ___
Ahh, isn't she lovely. And now you know where I get my sense of humour from.
And I wonder why she just rolls her eyes at me when I complain about Tricky climbing on the coffee table and dancing.
And for the record, I was waaay slower at reaching milestones than Tricky and I turned out awesome. STOP LAUGHING!!!
Have you looked through your baby notes? Were you a brat?
I was a brat. I pave pics of me covered in eyeliner. And another of me stuck in the bin that was used for potatoes. And one of me running around naked drinking from a beer bottle (I was 2).
ReplyDeleteAw! You were a boombah bottle-fed brat. My favourite!
ReplyDeleteI was the firstborn, and I didn't get anything like this, so feel special! It's also more than Abby has at present... #MOTY!
Much love <3
I was a firstborn so I have a beautiful baby book with all the lovely notes. Until I turned two and twin brothers came along.
ReplyDeleteI was also awesome
oh and super cute by the way.
ReplyDeleteI was a first born, and my book includes an entire family tree, photos up to my first birthday, locks of hair, and much awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteI was too busy being Mummy to do it for my two girls, which makes me sad. I may get around to making them a powerpoint one of these days.
Another firstborn here - my baby album was full by the time I was 11 months old. My youngest brother (10 years younger) - his album still isn't full poor guy!
ReplyDeleteAs for me - totally slack mother - didn't track milestones - have no idea when J did anything other than he didn't roll over till like 9 or 10 months and even then, I had to teach him!! btw Glowless, just over 2 years ago I pushed you out! Baby J was same weight as you but 1cm longer. Did you have a massive head too ;)
I didn't get bratty until high school. I was a quiet child who entertained herself easily. But don't worry I made my mom pay double time when I hit 14 for that breezey toddlerdom.
ReplyDeleteThat picture of you in the stroller? You look EXACTLY like I did as a baby there!
ReplyDeleteI have no notes :(
Seriously I have ALL of my baby photo albums, and pictures and my mother just sucks because there is nothing written. And I was the first born. Sad. (My poor little sister, we have like 5 photo's of her from birth till teenagehood).
With that i'm voting picture B for your pic. Just cuz you look like me :D
baby no. 5 here … what notes? as long as they didn't leave me behind at the service station i reckon i was the perfect kid! xt
ReplyDeleteI was rocking it hard to Abba from the ages of 2 until 4 and that's when I discovered Olivia Newton John and Grease.
ReplyDeleteLove & stuff
Mrs M
I was a brat and every day, my Mum takes great pleasure in knowing that her brat is now experiencing the wonders of raising brats. IT'S THE CIRCLE OF LIIIIIFE!
ReplyDeleteYour mum is awesome doing so much for a third baby! I was second, and the best I got was a few months after my second baby was born, my mother said, 'oh, by the way, I remembered one of your milestones the other day, but I can't remember now'. When I asked her a few weeks later if she had remembered, she couldn't remember the conversation at all. I can give you LOTS of statistics about her 'first' born child. hmmm....
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!! The brown pram! I had one exactly like it for my last baby. The first pram (also exactly like that) was dark red and wore out after three babies.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any baby notes from my own babyhood, but I do have photos of me wearing blue and playing with toy trains, (my mum was convinced I was going to be a boy so she bought boy stuff before I was born), also photos of me standing at 7 months and walking at 9 months.
love the one of you smiling at your mum... no I was not a brat I was quality - i assume
ReplyDeleteI love looking back through old photos! You were very cute lol!
ReplyDeletemy mum keeps telling me to take notes...i've got a bloody blog surely that should be enough! though i'm dreadful at stats and don't record the more mundane things like words, teeth, crawling and so on...perhaps i should?!?!?!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of you in the pram, Tricky looks a lot like you in that pic.
ReplyDeleteThe vast majority of pix of me age 5 & under are nudie shots. I wouldn't keep my clothes on at all
ReplyDeleteI keep forgetting to write in Tricky's baby book which has space for first 10 teeth, first held spoon, first bloody everything. I put the big ones in but the rest are all blank
ReplyDeleteTwins are the masters of time suckage!
ReplyDeletePity it didn't last :-P
ReplyDeleteBahaha PowerPoint FTW!
ReplyDeleteYup, massive head! I was the smallest of my mum's 3 bubbas... Poor woman.
ReplyDeleteSwings & roundabouts :-)
ReplyDeleteYounger ones get no photos but we get lortsa extra attention from older doting siblings
ReplyDeletePMSL I've always wondered what happens when there are more and now I know
ReplyDeleteLeg warmers ohhh yeah
ReplyDeleteI have visions of you holding The Boy above your head, showing him off to the kingdom
ReplyDeleteD'oh! I have it all in month long chunks as letters to Tricky, but not actual dates except for walking. My mum had dates for most things but I changed it for ease of reading. Lotta effort really on her part.
ReplyDeleteMy mum was obsessed with that pram. No pram can ever measure up to it's awesomeness.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if your mother agrees?
ReplyDeleteI've only done it for big things, really, and only then because I was doing monthly letters & had to write something!
ReplyDeleteI have gone through HUNDREDS in the past few weeks! Found some i'd never seen before too
ReplyDeleteEvery so often I can see parts of myself in Tricks, but mostly I didn't get a genetic look in. Total Map Guy clone.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more the expression rather than your actual features.. maybe? :p
ReplyDeleteI was first born and because we lived overseas there are literally millions of photos of me taken for grandparents. Lots of evidence that I was a cheeky little nudie girl!
ReplyDeleteAw, you haven't changed a bit.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me feel guilty instead of warm and fuzzy because I did not keep good records of my daughter's babyhood (#4). She's probably the only one who will even care!
