Gorgeous vlog with the gorgeous Glow! You're very expressive - love it! (And it was especially handy this morning as husband was hogging the TV and would have had a pink fit I asked him to turn it off for a minute while I watched a vlog.)
A MASSIVE brain fart. It was previewing as HTML only but I thought I'd take a chance that it was a preview glitch... it wasn't. Oops. Have had to fiddle with the settings, no idea why it's not interpreting code.
G has mad skills. I've wanted to learn Auslan since working in a retail store and having deaf customer try to ask me the where abouts of a product. I had no idea what she wanted and she got mad at me and walked off to find it on her own.
Holy crap that was AWESOME! I am impressed! Sign language is so interesting, and I love that it's as expressive and emotive as the spoken word. Well done you - rock the Auslan!!
Ah well you'll like this then; the signs for warm, black and prostitute are very, very similar, Aunty Penny and I used to always laugh when using them because we'd stop for a second to make sure we were using the right one!
Sign language is all about facial expression and gesture! All conversations look animated, it's brilliant. You should see someone argue in sign, it's amazing to watch :P
wow! you are one talented lady! my Auslan skills are pretty limited - half the alphabet if i really wracked my brains and maybe a few actual signs....wow! rusty? not to me - i'm totally convinced!
My kids are learning Auslan at school and kinder and it pisses me off when they start signing at me. I could learn from them, I guess, but I'm a grumpy, lazy mama.
Thanks for the entertainment. You inspire me to vlog. Soon...
This is my first FYBF - exciting! Although Im not sure it has worked, never mind, the intention was there :) Well done on the Auslan. Some mornings I am battling to speak normal English so that is a great effort xx
I wish I learnt ASL! (American Sign Language...they don't offer Auslan here...I wonder why...). I had (few) opportunities, but didn't take them, because the commute was far too long, it would have driven my credit hours way too high, it wouldn't have helped my grade point average, it would have cost too much, and my life was a bit hectic. I learnt the sign for boring, interesting, and funny at my internship, and probably would have learnt more had I not been terminated. Such is life.
I also probably would have been earlier with my linky had I not fallen asleep when I got home from my final today at 3pm....it's 8:45pm now (time difference)...I woke up at 8:30 and went "oh crap, I need to go add my link, I'm late!" lol. Time to check some blogs out. Thanks for the video, I love watching sign language, although Auslan is not really like what I've seen in ASL. =/ I'd probably be confused!
Today was my last day of university. It hasn't hit yet. I'm still in shock.
That was TOTALLY WICKED. You have some mad skills. I wouldnt know if you looked rusty. Looked pretty good to me. Feeling a little more inspired to learn now.
Hey Ashley! Just like any language, sign language differs between countries so Auslan and ASL are hugely different. ASL is based on the French and Auslan is based on the English, but there are still big differences between all of them. Even within Australia the dialects are really different and East Coasters would have to concentrate to understand my West Coast signs! Slang words and cultural differences mean every community develop their own signs, it's really cool. Congrats on finishing university, go have a few drinks to celebrate!
Hey that was good auslan and I'm proud of me that I understood some of it without looking at the subtitles -much! I work in special education and pick uP what I can to survive. But really wish I had time to do a course!

ReplyDeleteHahaha I used to do that too! I learned the alphabet from a kid's TV show and the front of the Yellow Pages and was hooked, had to go learn more.

I always mix up warm, black and prostitute. So a lot of the time I'll just say "warm black prostitute" and hope they figure out what I mean.

I love your vlog. That was soo cool. I used to know alot of Auslan when I was at uni but I have lost most of it.
