Even old TV shows and DVDs we've watched 100 times before are getting another go just to check out the sound and picture quality. It has Map Guy foaming at the mouth.
The magic of the moving pictures has not been lost on Tricky either. He's allowed to watch a bit of TV in the morning (or a lot if it's one of those days). He casts his eyes upwards and sees Iggle Piggle or Big Bird or Peppa Pig towering over him. His eyes boggle and you can see his brain switch off.
But there is one show that sucks him in like no other; it makes him giggle and clap his hands whilst dancing... and I'm ashamed to admit, it has me sucked in too. The animation, the voices, the feel good stories, you name it, I love it. The theme song gets stuck in my head for days at a time and I go around the house singing it, sounding like a moron (but hey, at least it keeps Tricky still at change times).
So to spread the ear-wormy goodness of Tricky's favourite song, we recorded this (quite blurry video) really really early yesterday morning while Map Guy was having his Father's Day sleep in. Enjoy!
Do you have a favourite kid's show? Do you know all the words to the theme song?
My name is Nicole and we are idiot box addicts. 5 operating tvs, 4 foxtel boxes. Totally Shameful. I blame it on the fact that The Councillor was a journalist in a former life, and therefore we NEED multiple media devices to keep up with current affairs. And The Real Housewives. And The Kardashians. OK, that might just be me...
ReplyDeleteI dont even know what that show was (just thankful it wasnt the wiggles) but the song is now stuck in my head! I'll be singing it all night! lol
ReplyDelete*Susan
we're still at the stage where q thinks my situationally appropriate songs are cool. like 'what would you like to wear today'and the ever popular 'nobody likes a whinger'
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I have to admit the Small Potatoes song is a favourite in our house too! I get certain kids' show theme songs stuck in my head and find myself singing them all day. Like Timmy Time, Postman Pat and Olivia for example!
ReplyDeleteOh my Tricky is the CUTEST. I'm seriously having a crappy moment here, and he managed to make me smile and just forget life and ahhh....
ReplyDeleteI actually have no idea what that show is!
There is one show I cannot stand though, like, it's banned, and that's Yo Gabba Gabba. I just can't stand it!
And yep, I totally get kids songs stuck in my head for dayyyyyyssss.
As my parenting journey has thus far spanned over 10 years the annoying songs and tv shows are way too many to mention...although I am getting better at blocking things out. I fear however I may be humming along to Trickys song for a good part of the remainder of this day!
ReplyDeletePMSL My four year old has just come running into the office when she heard that :P
ReplyDeleteI want to know who came up with the idea that singing potatoes might appeal to kids - and then who approved it!!! But it works, my 18mth old loves it and it is a total earworm!!!! Too cute Tricky!xx
ReplyDeleteOh I HATE those damn potatoes but my 3 year old loves them!! Cute video
ReplyDeleteHehehehe so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteOh , I am very happy that we are not the only couple stuck to the big "idiot box" hahaha:), perfectly understand your situation!
ReplyDeleteOh that is soooo cute!! :))
ReplyDeleteI've never watched Real Housewives or The Kardashians, I'm waaay too cheap to get Foxtel :P
ReplyDeleteSuch is the power of the ear worm that you don't even have to know the show!
ReplyDeleteDo you sing it to the tune of 'Nobody Likes A Bogan' by Area 7?
ReplyDeleteOlivia! Olivia! Olivia! O- liiiiiiiiiiv- iiiiiiiiiiiiii-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
ReplyDeleteGlad I could make you smile, Miss Pink. It's such a cute show, it's an 'out of the mouths of babes' type show where kids do the dialogue then they sing. YouTube it, it rocks :) xxx
ReplyDeleteOooOOOooh potatoes!
ReplyDeleteHehe :)
ReplyDeleteI think that too! Who comes up with this stuff????
ReplyDeleteI hope you're talking about me...
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping the novelty will wear off soon... It's cutting in to my twitter time.
ReplyDeleteWe loves the small potatoes here too, and LazyTown, but my kids have banned me from singing or dancing to that one...if only I could do some of those crazy push up things that Sportacus can do.....
ReplyDeleteOnly today my kids caught me singing 'Gaspard and Lisa, Gaspard and Lisa - the best of friends, thebestoffriendsforlife!" It's catchy! Just don't get me started on Yo-Gabba-Get-Lost. That stuff is sold as cool, but GEEZ it's indoctrination at its finest and most annoying.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with Dangermouse
ReplyDeletei LOVE how his face just lit up when he recognised the song - so damn cute.
ReplyDeleteLazyTown scares the shit outta me!
ReplyDeleteBahahha yep that's really catchy, that one! The other one that gets stuck in my head is "5 minutes more" and "64 Zoo Lane". Map Guy gets cranky and asks who'd live so close to a zoo.
ReplyDeleteAhhhh memories... misty water coloured memories.
ReplyDeleteHe's a musical little guy, one of the only times he's stopped dancing to it. Of course while I filmed.
